New conception of last year's Anniversary Edition that in point of fact works...This new "Celebratory Edition" is a watered down version of last year's Anniversary Copy. Usually this is a bad thing. However, since All-inclusive can't seem to figure out how to make a DVD-18 work duly, it's actually good they have seen fit to release this style as a single-sided, dual-layered DVD. Unfortunately, in doing so they set up dropped most of the extras found on the Anniversary Number. Still found on this release are the deleted scenes, the commentary and one of the featurettes. Why they didn't resolve to do 2 DVD-9's for this is beyond comprehension, but at least they've dropped the catalogue raisonn price a few dollars. My rating is for the overall the release, although in my sentiment both the film and the transfer on this release get 5 stars. Colors are prolific and rich, and detail is very fine.In closing, if you're not a "closest features" junkie, definitely get this release, as it's much more likely to margin properly. If you must have the Anniversary...
Thick-witted criminals in paradise
I was born in Chicago, and my architect went to Stienmetz high school with Tony Spilotro, the mobster portrayed in this flick by Joe Pesci. I grew up listening to stories about "the Ant" (not smarmy), and when he was finally whacked, my old man (a reporter for the Chicago Sun Times) wrote what amounted to his obitiuary. In it he recalled such charming Spilotro antics as the pass he threw acid at a girl who had rebuffed his advances and the patch he tried to split open my dad's head, and thus thwart my birth, with a T-square during shop arrange. To top it off, I recently discovered my Dad's old yearbook (1955 or so), in which he and the expected boss of Las Vegas are standing in true 1950s celebrity (slicked hair, plaid shirts, everybody wearing horn-rimmed glasses) next to each other on exact likeness day. So I guess you could say I had a personal interest in seeing how Marty Scorcese and his "Goodfellas" group would tackle the subject of transplanted Chicago mobsters in the neon unpeopled. My final...
Scorcese and De Niro together again!
Casino is nothing less than a Scorcese master-work, based primarily on the true story of the violent viability and death of Tony "The Ant" Spilotro, who was the mob's chief enforcer during the betimes 70's, while protecting the mob's gambling interests run by Sincere "Lefty" Rosenthal. As someone interested in the enlargement of the American mafia, Casino is a brilliant translation of the building of Bugsy Siegel's dream in the desert up to the gaudy haven for high rollers that it was during the 70s. This cinema brings the dusty pages of Las Vegas history to duration. Spilotro was the real thing; Joe Pesci gives us not a taste of how brutal he really was. His death in a mid-west cornfield was the terminating act of this particular chapter in Las Vegas history. This is as the case may be Scorsese's most underrated film, Casino contains one of De Niro's finest performances--his Sam Rothstein is controlled, nuanced, rest, contemplative, depressed, ambitious, and furious. De Niro plays all these...

Broadway's Dark Tonight
We enjoyed a collation at the Parthenon, and then hit up the casino where we donated a few dollars to them. This olden times weekend I made my beginning tumble to the fast Midwest. Notwithstanding how, the unspoilt midwest folks don't pity that way and they are on average genial people with big hearts. Our oversight was to function for two purposes, one to get me to my earliest specialist football victim, and two to see where my valuable other grew up. When we checked into the Detroit Marriott at the New dawn Center we were disconcerted by the site and......
